A yellow sun was a type of star that was yellowish in color.
The sunlight of a yellow sun was capable of charging a Kryptonian, Kandorian or Daxamite's super powers. On the other hand, if someone from those species were exposed to the sunlight of a red sun, their powers would be taken away.[2]
