Earth-1A[]
In 1972, Tom commanded the first spaceflight to Sargasso, a nearby planetoid. Although it was never his intention to land there, as that wasn't his mission, he was merely testing out a new spacecraft.
Still, his spacecraft was dragged down to the surface by Sirena's magnetic ray. He was rescued by Green Lantern.[2]
