Greg Sanders was a western cowboy from Wyoming, that eventually became a mystery-man called The Vigilante.
During his career as a crimefighter, he served as a member of the Seven Soldiers of Victory and the All-Star Squadron.
He also had a sidekick and assistant named Billy Gunn, who often accompanied him as his co-crimefighter.

- Driving: He often drove a motorcycle.
- Equestrianism: He could ride horses as good as any cowboy from those old western movies could.
- Marksmanship: He was a crack shot. He could toss six silver dollars into the air and shoot a hole through each of them before they hit the ground.
- Basic Hand-to-Hand Combat: He could hold his own in a bar brawl.
- Music: He often sang and played the guitar. On the radio he was known as the Prairie Troubadour, a famous country and western artist.
- Roping: He was skilled at throwing ropes, and lassoing his enemies.
