Synopsis[]
Gentleman Jim Cradock lived from 1835—1871. He was 36 years old. His grave is located in one of America’s oldest cities.
He was resuscitated in 1971 for the duration of a year through ritual in Latin. He was put back in his grave by Wonder Woman and Superman.
In 1977, he is brought to life again, wanting revenge on Superman and Wonder Woman for his short lived awakening back in 1971/1972.
Hours later at the Metropolis Convention Center, where the leaders of the free world are meeting -- Prime Minister Yan Bazaur is giving his speech, the ghost of Jim Craddock arrives. He turns him into a ghost hoping that Superman and Wonder Woman would come to the Prime Minister’s rescue. A police official signals the Hall of Justice. Aquaman, along with the Wonder Twins receive the distress call and send Batman and Robin who are the closest. Robin is shocked to see an invisible man. Batman recognizes him as Gentleman Jim. He tells Robin that the only way to snare him is with his impenetrable Bat-Cloth. He takes off his cape and amazingly tosses it 8 to 10 stories in the air. It hits its mark, but when they use Bat-Claw (aka grappling hooks) to ascend up the side of the building, he escapes – wanting only Superman and Wonder Woman.
He takes the apparition of the Prime Minister with him back to his historic home – full of cobwebs and disrepair. Back at the Hall of Justice, Batman and Robin Confer with Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the Wonder Twins. Just then Gentleman Jim contacts them on the HofJ viewer screen. He tells Wonder Woman and Superman to meet him at his mausoleum in one hour to be turned into ghosts, or he will turn all the world leaders into ghosts.
They decide to first want the world leaders at the convention center. Aquaman stays at the convention center. Superman uses his infra-red vision to pierce the darkness and scan the mountains and valleys. Wonder Woman in her invisible jet, scans the city and Batman, Robin and the Wonder Twins the great swamp outside Metropolis that stretches for almost a 100 miles. They are in two separate boats.
Jayna becomes a bullfrog and Zan becomes an Ice Floe.
Batman and Robin find a mansion, hidden deep in the swamp. It’s definitely Gentleman Jim’s place.. He easily captures the dynamic duo in his well. He comments that instead of complying, they want to fight. He said that’ll change when he turns the convention center into a ghostly graveyard.
As Gentleman Jim hides their boat, the Wonder Twins take notice. Gentleman Jim arrives at the Convention Center and heads to the Presidential suite. Aquaman tries to help, but s unsuccessful. Gentleman Jim is driven by revenge, transforming nearly a dozen world leaders. Superman and Wonder Woman decide to give themselves up. They head to the mausoleum to meet their fate.
Meanwhile the rest try to undo the damage and put an end to Gentleman Jim once and for all. He decides to take them to his mansion an put them on trial. His trial finds them guilty, sentencing he, to haunt the mansion for all eternity.
Back at Metropolis University, Aquaman, the Wonder Twins and Batman and Robin are int he Department of Parapsychology, seeking answers. They tell them that their research has told them that only gems from the ancient tomb of pharaoh will protect them – which they happen to have there right on the shelf. Whoever wears one will be protected from turning into a ghost. And that anyone who has been force to enter the ghost world need to only see their image in a special disk and the spell is removed. They have that, as well as the Rods of Merlin. There are seven of them and they all need to touch the original ghost at the same time and he’ll be driven back to his grave – never to return.
They head tot he mansion and split up. Zan becomes steam, and Jayna becomes a bat.
Their fight takes them back to the roof of the convention center.
They defeat Gentleman Jim, put him back in his grave and save the say.
