Supergirl is the superhero cousin of Superman.

Background Information[]

on the parallel-universe of Earth-One, Kara Zor-El was the last survivor of Argo City of the planet Krypton, which had survived the explosion of the planet and had drifted through space. When the inhabitants of the colony are slain by Kryptonite, Kara is sent to Earth by her father Zor-El to be raised by her cousin Kal-El, known as Superman. Fearing that she might not be recognized by Superman, Kara's parents provide a costume based on the Man of Steel's own.

On Earth, Kara acquires super-powers identical to Superman's and adopts the secret identity of Linda Lee, an orphan at Midvale Orphanage. She conceals her blonde hair beneath a brunette wig and functions as Supergirl only in secret, at Superman's request, until she can gain (in his opinion) sufficient control of her powers. After being adopted by Fred and Edna Danvers, Superman decides his cousin is ready to begin operating openly as Supergirl.

In her secret identity, Linda attends Midvale High School as Linda Lee Danvers. In later years, after graduating from Stanhope College, she changes careers several times, holding jobs in student counseling, news reporting, and acting in a TV soap opera titled Secret Hearts. She also attends college in Chicago. In the year 1985,Supergirl went on a mission to save Earth, and gave her life to save it.

Supergirl[3]

Weaknesses[]

  • Although Supergirl is invulnerable to nearly everything, under the yellow Sun, Kryptonite is the one substance that can destroy her.
  • Magic: Many forms of magic can also hurt Supergirl, since those forms of magic are as powerful or more powerful than she is.
  • Red Solar Energy: Also, if Supergirl was to travel to an alien world with a red Sun, she would lose her powers, and therefore be as vulnerable as any other human. Red solar radiation can be synthesized as well.

Supergirl DCAU Super girl Super girl was the last Krypton, and Superman's cousin. Kara Zoe-E was the only survivor from Krypton. While exploring the sector of space once occupied by Krypton, Superman discovered a hidden cryogenic facility which had sustained heavy damage. Only one chamber was intact, containing the last survivor of Krypton: Kara. Taking the young woman back to Earth, Superman introduced Kara to his adoptive parents. The Dancers took her in under the guise of Jeremiah Denver's preteen daughter. Inspired by her cousin Clark, Kara made a costume similar to Superman's and occasionally joined on missions as Super girl. Kara frequently visited Clark in Metropolis and, as Super girl, she had full access to Superman's Fortress of Solitude. In Super girl, Superman found a living link to his alien heritage, and someone he could talk to about his dual lives as Superman and Clark Kent. She became a frequent friendly ally who could be trusted with Superman's secret. After living in in Kansas for three years, under Clark's instructions, she was finally recruited into the new Justice League.

This version of Supergirl is based on the Superman: The Animated Series (1996-2000), The New Batman Adventures (1997-1999), the Justice League (2001-2004) and the Justice League Unlimited (2004-2006), produced for the Cartoon Network.

KaraKent Kara Danvers Kara Danvers is Clark Kent's Krypton cousin, the daughter of Zoe-Eli and Astral Zoe-El's niece, and a member of the House of El. Kara’s adopted sister: Alex Danvers created a false backstory for the authorities to cover Kara's sudden appearance in Smallville, explaining that she is Clark's cousin on his adoptive father's side, raised in Minnesota for the past 19 years until she was able to track down her one remaining blood relative. Kara became the target for the next scheme of Brainiac, who forced her to follow him, and they disappeared into space. Brainiac trapped her on Krypton in 1986 after traveling through time. Kara returned to Earth with Clark but shortly after, it was revealed to be Brainiac posing as her; in reality, Brainiac put Kara in the Phantom Zone. Alex and the last son of mars: J’onn J’onzz rescued both Clark and Kara from the Phantom Zone. Currently, Kara is searching for the lost city of Kandor in space.

This version of Supergirl is based on the Smallville TV series (2001-??) as seen on the CW.
