Perspective
This wiki is written in an "in-universe" perspective. Any "out-of-universe" info or "real world perspective" info is written in an article’s Background Information, unless the article is referring to something in the real world, such as the articles for Adam West or Keith David. Articles such as those should be marked with a "Real world perspective" template.

Superfriends canon
Superfriends canon
  +
The Superfriends canon in a strict, narrow or specific sense is forged from three sources: (1) Hanna Barbera’s SuperFriends TV Show (1973-1985), (2) The SuperFriends Comic Book (1976-1981), the SuperPowers Comics (1984-86), and the SuperPower Mini-comics (1984-85). This is the SuperFriends universe which is part of the larger Multi-verse.
The Superfriends canon refers to everything that's related to the Superfriends, mainly the events that take place on Earth-1A. The whole series. Here is a list of things that are considered canon or at least somewhat connected to the canon.

The comics
The comic book series is part of the canon. Not DC Comics as a whole, just the Super Friends comics. Still, many Superfriends comics make references to other DC comics. Those comics too should be considered canon, but not the entire series. In other words, if a particular Superfriends comic makes reference to JLA#47, then that comic should have an article here, but not #48, because it's not canon. One exception to this rule would be if the story was to be continued in the following issue. Those comics should be considered canon with Earth-1A and Earth-One alike.

  +
In a general or broad sense, canon could refer simply to anything that's related to the above three criteria. These connections would of course be conjecture.
Also, the SuperFriends comics reference comics that feature a crossover story with an earth called Earth-Two...we refer to it as Earth-2A, to distinguish it from the Earth-Two from the DC Comics multiverse. Because of this, we are also editing articles from the Superman cartoons from the '40s, which we assume also take place on Earth-2A, based on the fact that they have the same voices from the other Superman cartoons, and because they are obviously based on the Earth-Two version of Superman. And since The universe has crossed over with Earth-1A, it fits into this wiki. This also makes it possible to include the Tom De Haven novel It's Superman!, which was clearly modeled after the 1940s cartoons, and on one version of the cover, the Superman shown was the Superman from those cartoons.

The Comics
As we just established, the comic book series is part of the canon. Not DC Comics as a whole. . Still, many Superfriends comics make references to other DC comics. Those comics too should be considered canon, but not the entire series. In other words, if a particular Superfriends comic makes reference to JLA #147 (Oct. 77), then that comic should have an article here, but not the one that came before or after, because it's not referenced. One exception to this rule would be if the story was to be continued in the following issue. Those comics should be considered canon with Earth-1A and Earth-One alike.

Because of this, we are also editing articles from the Superman cartoons from the '40s, which we assume also take place on Earth-2A.
  +

The Super Powers comics and anything Super Powers are being used on this wiki because they also appear to be part of Earth-1A. The comics were written to tie in to the toyline which in turn was reflected in the last two seasons of Super Friends. It should be noted that the first two volumes of the series, and the mini-comics both fit into the Earth-1A canon; however, Volume 3 is a loner, as there are too many contradictions for it to fit comfortably into the canon. Because of this, one of our admins have created a different universe and has called it Earth-1B. The DC Heroes role playing game from the Super Powers Collection tie-in does not fit into our canon. Some of the material from the game may be used here, so as long as it doesn't contradict what has already been previously established.

Other continuity related series
Other continuity related series
Television shows that are listed here are also considered part of the Earth-1A universe. Mainly it's any of the DC classic cartoons from the '60s to the '80s. However there are a few live action shows that are considered part of Earth-1A, and one cartoon from the '90s, the Swamp Thing. Shazam! and other related series are considered part of the canon due to Captain Marvel's appearance in the live-action Superfriends episodes.
+
Television shows that are listed here are also loosely considered part of the Earth-1A universe. Mainly it's any of the DC classic cartoons from the '60s to the '80s and a few live action shows.

Batman
The Batman (TV series) is considered canon by some fans, but as of now, the Superfriends Wiki does not recognize it as canon. If you feel that it is canon, or could easily fit into the canon, then bring your points to the discussion page.

The Scooby-Doo episodes with Batman
The Scooby-Doo episodes with Batman
These episodes likely take place in the Hanna-Barbara universe, and probably not Earth-1A. (Considering that there's a talking dog and all that). But because Batman and Robin appear, we have a connection at least to that extent, so we're using it here. And since Superman and Wonder Woman appeared in The Brady Kids, we can use them as well.
+
These episodes more than likely do not take place in the Earth-1A universe. But because Batman and Robin appear in the same animation style, we have a connection so we're using it here. And since Superman and Wonder Woman appeared in The Brady Kids, we've provided them a home here as well. These articles will need the proper citation.

Super Powers
The Super Powers comics and anything Super Powers are being used on this wiki because they appear to be part of Earth-1A. The comics were written to tie in to the toyline which in turn was reflected in the the last two seasons of Super Friends. However, Volume 3 is a loner, as there are too many contradictions for it to possibly fit into the canon of Earth-1A, because of this, we are saying that volume three takes place on a different Earth. The DC Heroes role playing game was also a Super Powers Collection tie-in, but this doesn't necessarily mean that information from that game is COMPLETELY canon in the Earth-1A Universe. Some of the material from the game may be used here, so as long as it doesn't contradict what has already been previously established.

Wildstorm Productions
Wildstorm Productions
Any animated production that was produced by Wildstorm Productions, such as WildC.A.T.S and Gen¹³, is also here. We are considering it a separate universe, however it is being used here based on the fact that in DC Comics, the Wildstorm Earth is part of the multiverse, and ever since DC's comic even known as The New 52, the Wildstorm characters are all part of the same Earth.
+
Any animated production that was produced by Wildstorm Productions, such as WildC.A.T.S and Gen¹³, is also here. We are considering it a separate universe, and including it as a bit of fan fun. These articles will need the proper citation.

Fan productions/Fan Fiction
Fan productions/Fan Fiction
Articles based upon fan productions can be made, but must be categorized correctly. (In other words, characters like Barack Obama, who only appeared in a fan film, should be categorized as a "Fan production character." This is so that people who read the articles will know that these articles are about non-canon material.
+
Articles based upon fan productions can be made, but must be written in their proper context. These articles will need the proper citation.

Commercials
Commercials
  +
Commercials from toy or product tie-ins are used here. These articles will need the proper citation.
Commercials, whether considered canon or not, are used here. This includes all of the Cartoon Network commercials, like the ones with Ben 10, the Powerpuff Girls, and many others should be used. Plus we have an article for the Super Powers Toyline Commercials, and any commercial articles that are related to the Super Powers Collection can be created or edited here.

Hanna-Barbera cartoons
Some Hanna-Barbera adventure and superhero cartoons are very likely part of the Super Friends universe. But we can't go crazy in this area. Although many are firm believers that the works of Alex Toth belong here, such as Birdman and the Galaxy Trio, Space Ghost and Dino Boy and all related canon belong here, we must be cautious in other areas. There was a crossover with Scooby-Doo, but just because there was, doesn't mean that all Scooby-Doo shows should be canon.

Hanna-Barbera cartoons
That would be ridiculous. Scooby-Doo alone has crossed over with multiple other cartoons. We have to realize that the world Scooby-Doo is part of doesn't fit into the reality of the Super Friends universe. The Super Friends universe is a world inhabited by cartoons and animals that can't talk. The Dynamic Duo did appear in a couple episodes, so we have those episodes on here, but nothing else.

Some Hanna-Barbera adventure and superhero cartoons are very likely part of the Super Friends universe. But we can't go crazy in this area. Although many are firm believers that the works of Alex Toth belong here. We have included some of these, but again, they must have the proper citation.

Same goes for Dynomutt. It's part of the Scooby-Doo universe. It doesn't belong. We can edit a page with Blue Falcon, because he did appear in a commercial with the Super Friends, but that doesn't bring the whole Dynomutt series into Super Friends canon, as that world doesn't fit. Some may argue that Wonder Dog was a talking dog, but he really wasn't. He almost talked, and in one instance; in the Limited Collectors' Edition, he is portrayed as having dialog, but in general he can't talk. Yes, there are instances in the cartoon where it sounds like he's saying "Yeah." But that's just barking. I've heard animals say "huh?" and stuff like that. I had a cat that practically talked when I was a kid. Saying yes or no in meows. That's not really language, just communication.

Naming articles
A unique case however, could be Jonny Quest. He appeared in at least one commercial with the Super Friends, and he could fit in a world like this. It should also be noted that the related series: The Venture Bros. also has made references to the Herculoids and possibly other Alex Toth productions. And since the show is about an old acquaintance of Quest's, it seems to suggest that Jonny Quest is part of the Hanna-Barbera adventure hero canon. Not only that, but The Venture Bros. also references Scooby-Doo, but it treats him as a fictional character. (Another good reason not to use Scooby-Doo shows on this wiki) On the other hand, at times characters such as Batman are treated fictional as well, which raises confusion as to whether it belongs on this wiki. On the other hand this may be overlooked, depending on certain things. Also, perhaps the Jonny Quest series could be used, but The Venture Bros. could be ignored? It's obvious that shows like Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law do not belong here, but their predecessor shows probably do, considering Space Ghost is practically a DC Comics character these days, in other media at least. (He was seen in "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" and "Teen Titans Go!") In any case, before we add anything Jonny Quest, we need to do extensive research. Since all the characters appeared in the commercial we can do a page for each of them, but that doesn't necessarily include the whole of the Jonny Quest series, we have to be sure first.

When writing an article it's important to name the article what it was referred to in the Super Friends Universe. For example, Deep-sea diving gear is what it was referred to as in Dr. Pelagian's War, even though the Wikipedia article calls it Standard diving dress. The reason it was so named, was because that's what it was called in dialogue in the episode.

What is not canon?
The mainstream comics (DCU) is not canon. The same is the case with everything else that's ever been seen of DC characters in other media. Such as the DCAU. The DCAU has its' own wiki, and so does DC Comics, which is the DC Database. There are a few other things that are technically not part of the Super Friends universe, but we are still editing on this wiki. Among them are the DC Super Friends and the Wildstorm animated productions. The DC Super Friends may not be canon, but due to the fact that it uses the name "Super Friends," we felt it belonged here. And although the Wildstorm Animated Universe is itself an entirely separate reality that was never referenced (and for that matter never heard of at the time) on the Super Friends, we are using them here because they are from DC Comics, and with their inclusion we have all DC animated productions from the '40s to the '90s. (Not including the DCAU of course.) Just remember, any non-Earth-1A article must be categorized as such. If it's a character from the Wildstorm Animated Universe, it should be categorized: "Wildstorm characters." If it's just a location or something else, it should also be categorized as such. The idea is not to confuse people who aren't too familiar with the Super Friends. We need to be clear about what is what. Not everybody knows that Hanna Barbera’s Super Friends and the DC Super Friends are two completely different entities. If we categorize them separately it will make it much easier for people just starting to learn about the Super Friends and the related universes.

Articles

Creating a new article from scratch can be a very daunting task. To help you get started, we have provided templates to use as guidelines for you to copy and paste into article.

Articles should have the following elements:

 • Incomplete articles should be given the stub template.
 • The first appearance of the articles title within the text should be in bold type.
 • Words that are themselves titles of additional articles should be linked.
 • If using a quote use one of the following:
* Template:Quote
* Template:Cquote
 • Internal links add to the cohesion and utility of The SuperFriends Wiki by allowing readers to deepen their understanding of a topic by conveniently accessing other articles. These links should be included where it is most likely that readers might want to use them; for example, in article leads, the beginnings of new sections, table cells, and image captions.
 • There are various ways of writing 'SuperFriends', but for the purposes of this wiki in order to have uniformity, all instances of the word 'SuperFriends' should be spelled thusly.
- Michael Mogg, founder

 • Tense: Plot summaries on individual episode pages are written in present-tense narrative. This should be maintained unless obvious years or past events are mentioned.
 • Shorter articles not needing a stub template should contain a short bio and a picture of object, etc.
Adapted from Wikipedia

Character Articles

Generally, any character or any guest character with a name qualifies to have their own page.

A character article should contain the following sections in order:

 • Heading: If Character is a ‘SuperFriends’ or ‘Legion of Doom’ team member place appropriate heading above main bio page as follows:
(Copy and Paste as you see it)
 • <h3> SuperFriends Team Member</h3>
 • <h3>Legion of Doom Team Member</h3>
 • Using Character Template: The Infobox should only contain canon information, i.e., information stated or seen on-screen, or confirmed off-screen. For instance, the ‘voice-actors name’, if known.
 • Please use appropriate Character Infobox:
 • Intro Section: No title necessary. This intro section serves as an introduction. Limit to one to two sentences summarizing who the article is about. Unknown information or non-canon information should be relegated to the notes section and cited accordingly. Listing the voice-actors name is not necessary.
 • History: If history of character is known (from what has been revealed on screen only) put that info here and fill it out accordingly. Also, be clear about who the alias is, etc.
 • Background Information: this section is for out-of-universe information, or continuity information from continuity-related shows here. These types of shows can be found listed on our page: SuperFriends in Other Media. This section is also a perfect place to add history of character from the DC Universe (specifically Earth-One). This section may be omitted where no information exists.
 • Powers & Abilities: List appropriate powers and special abilities in a bulleted list. This section may be omitted if the character has no special powers or abilities.
 • If known – Weakness: List appropriate weaknesses in a bulleted list
 • Episode Appearances: List them in a in a bulleted list. If necessary use the following template: Template:Scroll box
 • Notes: Place any other facts known about character here. For example: history of character, creators, etc.
 • Team member info section: no title necessary
 • If SuperFriends member use the following Infobox:
 • If Legion of Doom Member member use the following Infobox:
 • External Links: If needed, have a section for any links to well-known fan sites, or other sites with information on the character.
 • Appearances in Other Media: If character has known counterparts in other media place a few in this section, using the following templates (in this order):
Repeat if necessary.

Episodes

Each episode is to have its own information in this order:

 • Infobox template: The following template should appear at the top of the episode page (when creating a new page), before the sections listed below: Template:Episode
 • Summaries: No heading necessary - Summaries may be original from a real-world prospective and should briefly cover each plotline in the episode.
 • Plot: This section is to provide a more detailed explanation of mostly every scene in the episode but generally do not contain direct lines of dialogue exchange. Pictures enhance this section tremendously. Plots are written in present tense. Try to avoid describing every tiny detail and action. All recaps should be original.
 • Continuity (or if needed ‘Discontinuity): Continuity is for things in the episode (such as characters, lines of dialogue, or objects) that refer to other episodes. Discontinuity sections include things that directly contradict something in another episode.
 • Continuity in Other Media: For more on ‘other media’ see our page: SuperFriends in Other Media
 • Cast: In this section we will list heroes, villains, guest roles and uncredited voice actors.
 • The following table should be used:
  V o i c e   A c t o r       R o l e
 Danny Dark     Superman
 Olan Soule     Batman
 Casey Kasem     Robin
 Shannon Farnon     Wonder Woman
 Norman Alden     Aquaman
 Frank Welker     Marvin White
 Sherry Alberoni     Wendy Harris
 Frank Welker     Wonder Dog
  G u e s t   C a s t
      Sir Cedric Cedric
      Power Pirate / Anthro

 • Episode Title: This section explains the significance of the episode title for each episode.
 • Notes: Notes are a bulleted list of objective observations for the episode. For example, notes can provide more information to things referenced in the episode, further explanations, or amusing facts. Also, things that might not be obvious to the viewer or glaringly obvious production errors can be pointed out in the Notes section as well. Plot details covered in the recap are not notes. Reviews, opinions, or details that can be argued or discussed can be put on the Talk page instead.
 • Quotes: Quotes are those from the episode the editor feels are significant. The editor should record them exactly as they are spoken. Put the speaker in bold. Also note that character names should be linked. This section should use the appropriate template:
 • External links: This section is for other places online that provide additional details on the specific episode. TV.com is usually included, but any site can be listed.

Articles Needing Citation

Articles that more research or proper citation will be marked with the citation tag.

Superfriends canon

The Superfriends canon in a strict, narrow or specific sense is forged from three sources: (1) Hanna Barbera’s SuperFriends TV Show (1973-1985), (2) The SuperFriends Comic Book (1976-1981), the SuperPowers Comics (1984-86), and the SuperPower Mini-comics (1984-85). This is the SuperFriends universe which is part of the larger Multi-verse.

In a general or broad sense, canon could refer simply to anything that's related to the above three criteria. These connections would of course be conjecture.

Here is a list of things that are considered canon or at least somewhat connected to the canon.

Also, the SuperFriends comics reference comics that feature a crossover story with an earth called Earth-Two...we refer to it as Earth-2A, to distinguish it from the Earth-Two from the DC Comics multiverse. Because of this, we are also editing articles from the Superman cartoons from the '40s, which we assume also take place on Earth-2A.

Television shows that are listed here are also loosely considered part of the Earth-1A universe. Mainly it's any of the DC classic cartoons from the '60s to the '80s and a few live action shows.

The Scooby-Doo episodes with Batman

These episodes more than likely do not take place in the Earth-1A universe. But because Batman and Robin appear in the same animation style, we have a connection so we're using it here. And since Superman and Wonder Woman appeared in The Brady Kids, we've provided them a home here as well. These articles will need the proper citation.

Wildstorm Productions

Any animated production that was produced by Wildstorm Productions, such as WildC.A.T.S and Gen¹³, is also here. We are considering it a separate universe, and including it as a bit of fan fun. These articles will need the proper citation.

Fan productions/Fan Fiction

Articles based upon fan productions can be made, but must be written in their proper context. These articles will need the proper citation.

Commercials

Commercials from toy or product tie-ins are used here. These articles will need the proper citation.

Hanna-Barbera cartoons

Some Hanna-Barbera adventure and superhero cartoons are very likely part of the Super Friends universe. But we can't go crazy in this area. Although many are firm believers that the works of Alex Toth belong here. We have included some of these, but again, they must have the proper citation.

Naming articles

When writing an article it's important to name the article what it was referred to in the Super Friends Universe. For example, Deep-sea diving gear is what it was referred to as in Dr. Pelagian's War, even though the Wikipedia article calls it Standard diving dress. The reason it was so named, was because that's what it was called in dialogue in the episode.
