A spectral genetic analysis was a way of studying genetic material by identifying chromosomes by their distinct color spectrum.

Batman ran a spectral genetic analysis of a photograph of Firestorm and learned that DNA of his genetic code was composed of quadruple helices, rather than a double helix as was typical for DNA.
This seemed to indicate that Firestorm was actually two people in one. As it turned out, the spectral genetic analysis was correct.[2]
