Seahorses, such as sea ponies; were a type of fish that had a mild resemblance to a horse, at least their head did.
They also had the ability to change color.

When the TroubAlert alerted the Super Friends to the danger of a waterspout in the South Atlantic, Aquaman said: "Great galloping seahorses!"[2]
A seashorse was one of many fish present when Aquaman fed a bunch of fish when a famine struck the ocean caused by a red tide, which occurred due to the Water Men mining silicon from the sea.[3]
