Sagittarius was a constellation that was observable from Earth.
The westernmost part of Sagittarius was the center of the Milky Way Galaxy.

In the 1970s, in order for the Water People to return from Earth to their homeworld, they had to travel around the edge of the galaxy to Sagittarius.
That was easier said than done, since they had ran out of fuel, due to a meteor striking their fuel line. In order to refuel, they began mining silicon from the oceans, but this spelled ecological disaster for the Earth, and created red tides.
The Superfriends later gave them all the silicon they needed and they were able to return to their homeworld in Sagittarius.[2]
