Roots are part of the plant anatomy that usually are buried beneath the soil. There are four major functions of the roots. The absorption of water and inorganic nutrients, anchoring the plant into the ground to give it support, storing food and nutrients and vegetative reproduction.
When Marvin White, Wendy Harris and Wonder Dog followed the footprints of what they thought was a giant chicken, but was actually a walking tree, they found a tree that looked as though it was ripped out of the ground from its' roots.[2]
While Maximus Mole was filling his water bottle at the Molesville Lagoon, a Walking Palm Tree places his roots into the waters and begins absorbing it.[3]
