Ron Cey (born 1948) was the third baseman of the L.A. Dodgers. When Ironsides was trying to use the telephone, instead of a telephone signal, he received a radio transmission of a baseball game between the Mets and the Dodgers, in which the Mets' shortstop Bud Harrelson hits a grounder to third base, and Ron Cey[2] gets him out, making two outs for that inning, which was the ninth.
