A rogue star was a type of star that somehow deviated from its' natural orbit within a galaxy.

In 1955, a rogue star was moved from its' natural position by a nova, which caused it to be tossed into Earth's orbit. This was apparently a very small star...and that is truly an understatement considering it was small enough to orbit the Earth.
The star was observed by an astronomer named Doctor John Bailey, who was then transformed into an evil super powered being by the star's radiation. After Superboy destroys the rogue star, Bailey was returned to normal.[2]
