Red Jack was a supervillain and an enemy of the Doom Patrol.

He made the claim that he was not only the Victorian serial killer Jack the Ripper, but also God Himself.

Pain and Suffering Absorption: He was able to absorb the pain and suffering of others, but rather than harming him, this fueled his super powers. This was why he had a collection of butterflies that were all subjected to suffering, so as to continue powering him.

Power Limitation: His super powers were only unlimited when he had an unlimited supply of pain and suffering to absorb.

Power Loss: If he were to be cut off from his power source, which was the suffering of others, he wouldn't have any super powers at all, in fact, he would be just as vulnerable to death as any Human would. This was in fact, how he died, since he was stabbed with a knife by Rhea Jones.

Red Jack's species and homeworld was unknown. Considering his super powers, it's possible he was some type of demon; similar to the Monkey King except that he absorbed other people's pain and suffering rather than fear.

His homeworld seemed to be located in some other dimension. It's conceivable that this was somewhere in the Underworld or possibly some other dimensional realm.

Red Jack was created by Grant Morrison and Richard Case and first appeared in Doom Patrol # 23 (June 1989).^[2]
