Proteans (Adventure Comics 334 April 1965)

Interestingly enough, the race of beings from Antares-II (in an unidentified space sector) are called Proteans not Antereans. Proteans are a race of shape-shifting aliens who look like fluffy goo. Originally they were thought to be of limited intelligence.

In the parallel-universe of Earth-One, there is virtually no information on this race of beings. Active Legionnaire, Chameleon Boy had taken one as a pet and called him Proty. It was soon discovered that Proty was far more intelligent than they believed.

In roughly 2877, the Silver Wheel of Nyorlath landed on Anteres-II altering their destiny. About 100 years later, in 2977, Heroes from Earth-Two’s Justice Society, Justice Leaguers from Earth-One’s past and a few Legionnaires retrieve the ancient artifact.[2]
