Preserves or fruit preserves referred to a variety of different types of fruit used as a condiment for toast or peanut butter sandwiches.
They were generally stored in jars or squeeze bottles. Jelly and jam were very well-known types of preserves.

One of the shops at the Shopping Center sold primarily coffee, but also preserves, as well as spices and teas.[2]
