A Poltergeist was a type of ghost that was native to the Region of the Just Dead.
They were apparently mindless creatures, that were formed at points when particularly violent emotions seeped through from the world inhabited by living beings.
Much like cattle in a field of grass, Poltergeists often grazed throughout the Region of the Just Dead.
When someone passed through a poltergeist, it caused them to burst, which gave off a foul odor.[2]
