A planet was an astronomical object that usually orbited a star, and often had an atmosphere, and at times was even capable of supporting life.
Earth-like planets were especially capable of supporting humanoid life forms, as well as similar life, such as insects, arachnids, reptiles and amphibians, just to name a few.
Some humanoids with more advanced physiology were able to live on planets with a far harsher atmosphere then that of the typical Earth-like environment, however most needed an atmosphere with oxygen in order to breathe, particularly the human race, and other Earthlings.
