A nucleus was the center of an atom or molecule, usually consisting of protons and neutrons.
A universal molecule was a molecule that combined every known atom at its' nucleus.[2]

In 1955, Professor Lewis Lang invented a cosmic energizer, which was powered by a universal molecule. When Doctor Bourne asked about it, Lang told him that the molecule had a combination of all known atoms within its' nucleus.
Later, when Lang's cosmic energizer went haywire and bombarded Bourne with energy that was sucking the life out of him, he was only able to save him by using the nucleus of the universal molecule.[3]
