A nose was a part of the animal anatomy. The nose was essential to breathing and the sense of smell.
Bloodhounds were well known for their amazing nose. They could detect odors that no human could.

When Marvin and Wendy were in a dark room in the Electric Generator Plant, Wendy searched for a light switch, so as to turn on the lights, but instead of finding a light switch, she found Marvin's nose.[2]
When Wonder Dog was about to sneeze in the Nal Library, Marvin covers his nose with his finger.[3]
Once, a duck bit Wonder Dog on the nose when he fell into his pond. Wendy then bandaged his injured nose up.[4]
