Mechanical Monsters in flight![1]
The Mechanical Monsters were a type of mechanical robots.
They were usually controlled by a mad scientist or a supervillain.
History[]
Earth-2A[]
The Mechanical Monsters were giant robots created by a greedy scientist. In 1944, he used them to steal priceless jewels from a jewel exhibit and loot a bank.
Lois Lane even managed to hitch a ride in the back of one of the Mechanical Monsters, so as to allow it to take her to the inventor, so that she could figure it out. Upon arrival, the scientist asks her where the jewelry is, and she told him that he could "read all about it in tomorrow's paper." Superman later rescues her and destroys all of the Mechanical Monsters, while the inventor was sent to jail.[2]
Earth-508[]

On this Earth, circa 2009, Lex Luthor invented the Mechanical Monsters and had them attack the opening of the Superman Museum. Green Lantern was able to create a magnet to stop them, the citizens were scared and ran away to safety.[4]
