Circa 1944, in the Earth-2A universe, a supervillain known as the Mad Scientist attempted to take revenge on the citizens of Metropolis by destroying the city with his Electrothanasia-Ray. Apparently he was mocked and laughed at in the scientific community and people failed to heed his warnings. He then attempted to destroy Metropolis but he ultimately failed, because he was defeated by Superman.
