Lara was the wife of astro-scientist Jor-El on the planet Krypton. She is the biological mother of Kal-El.

Unfortunately, the ‘Ruling Council’ did not heed Jor-El’s warning, so when Krypton exploded, she was killed along with all the other countless millions of Kryptonians.

• Lara first appeared as Lara Lor-Van in Superman comic strip (1939), the biological mother of Superman.
