Superman uses a reflector from a telescope to give sunlight to the dark side of Earth, by reflecting the sun's light.[1]
Light was electromagnetic radiation that was visible to the Human eye, and allowed sight. Photons were tiny units of light.[2]
When focused as a narrow beam, light was referred to as a ray.

The absence of light was what caused darkness. Also, if something was blocking light, it could cast darkness which was called a shadow.
Certain characters had the ability to manipulate darkness with their super powers.
One person that could do this was Todd Rice, who was a superhero named Obsidian.
Also, certain types of ray guns that blasted black light were also capable of generating darkness.

Superman once used the sun's light to light up the dark side of the Earth. He did it by using a telescope's reflector.[3]
Traveling at the speed of light or faster makes it possible to travel through time[4] and to parallel universes.[5]
Marvin White hit a switch in Min & Max Trucking Co., Inc., thinking it was a light switch. It turned out to be a machine that caused the building to rotate.[6]
