Hitchhiking is when someone stands on the side of a road and points their thumb in the direction they are traveling, in the hopes that someone in an automobile passing in that direction will pick them up and give them a ride to wherever it is they are going.
The activity is usually looked at in a negative light, due to the fact that people that pick up hitchhikers are strangers, and they could be dangerous people.[1]
Robin referred to the incident in which mushroom spores from Krypton took a ride on a Kryptonite meteor as "Operation Hitchhiker."[2]
