Hang gliding was a popular sport that involved riding on air currents with the use of a glider.

In 1980, the Annual Hang Gliders Competition was held atop Mount Metropolis. It was there that Daryl did a dangerous stunt with his glider, which nearly got him and his girlfriend killed.
Thankfully they were rescued by the Wonder Twins and Gleek.[2]
