Guardian

A guardian was anyone who served as a protector to someone or something.

For example, a legal guardian was someone who had custody of a child, whether by means of adoption or parentage.

Both Jim Harper and Malcolm Duncan used Guardian as codenames for their superhero identities.

The Oans regarded themselves as the Guardians of the Universe, while The Monitor regarded himself as the Guardian of the multiverse.
