The Gettysburg Address was a famous speech by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War on Thursday, November 19, 1863, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
One of the most famous quotes from the speech was the iconic opening line: "Four score and seven years ago, our father's brought forth...", which was a reference to the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence during the beginning of the Revolutionary War in 1776.
