Preparing for this historic first-manned mission.
The First Manned-Mission to Mars was the scheduled launch of the Mars 1 rocket. Although this was meant to be the first time the human race would land on Mars, due to sabotage, this mission was a failure, because everyone at the United States Space Center was shrunk down to two inches tall.[1]

The mission was indeed a failure, as the rocket had exploded.[2] It should be noted however, that this was far from the last attempt to get man to Mars, as other missions were scheduled very soon afterward that were successful. Later in the same year, a base is even established on Mars, and several other missions to Mars were a success, with the exception of the Mars missile launch, which was also met with sabotage.[3]
