Evasive action or evasive maneuvers was when an aircraft, spacecraft or watercraft was piloted in such a way so as to avoid collision with something.
This was usually done when another ship was attempting to destroy the other with torpedoes or other weapons, or when a ship was about to crash into an iceberg.

When Manta sent the Water Beast to capture a bunch of freighters in the Mid-Atlantic, they immediately took evasive action and one of them was able to escape.[2]
