The dollar (often represented by the dollar sign $) was the name of the official currency of many countries, territories and dependencies, including Australia, Belize, Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United States.
Many dollar bills had pictures of Presidents of the United States printed on them. For example, Abraham Lincoln is on the five dollar bill.
Batman paid $2.25 to Doctor Rebos for a cup of chicken soup, which he thought was quite expensive for a cup of soup. But he assured him that the soup was actually only 25 cents, and that the rest of the money was for the deposit on the spoon.
When the Super Friends learn that the U.S.S. Narwhal is in trouble and Wonder Woman assumes the Raven is behind it, Superman says: "Dollars to doughnuts, you're right."[2]
