Dogs were a canine animal species, native to the planet known as Earth. Domesticated dogs were one of the most common pets for humans in the world. There were many types of dogs. A dog was often thought of as a "man's best friend." Marvin White's pet dog was also a superhero. He wore a cape just like his master did.

Dogs were a subspecies of the wolf, an animal that is also sometimes referred to as a dog. Many other species were related to dogs, such as foxes.
