The Cowardly Lion is a fictional character from Lyman Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. After Mr. Mxyzptlk transported the Super Friends to the planet of Oz by using a tornado, he eventually transformed them all into characters from the book. He transformed Wonder Woman into the Cowardly Lion.

The Cowardly Lion in this episode is patterned after Bert Lahr who portrayed this character in the 1939 musical film of "Oz".
