Contempt of court was a crime in which a person displays contempt against the courtroom.
Such abuse of the legal system was seldom tolerated by judges, and could cause the offender to face criminal charges.

When the Super Friends were forced to be on trial by the Legion of Doom, Green Lantern rightly had contempt for the ridiculous situation, and he spoke out against his accusers, but Lex Luthor slammed his gavel down, telling him that if he's not silent during the prosecution's testimony, then he could be held on contempt of court.[2]
