Confiscation was when a person's possessions were seized by the government; such as an automobile or house.
This was generally done when a person refused to; or was unable to pay for the item that was confiscated.

On the planet Camelon, the Rebels asked an Elderly Villager what he was going to give to the new King as a tax. When he told them he had nothing to give, they confiscated his house, nailing the document to his door.[2]
