The Central City Police Department Scientific Detection Bureau was the Central City Police Department's science division.
They utilized chemistry and other forms of science to aid them in Crime Scene Investigation.
Barry Allen worked as a police scientist for the Central City Police Department Scientific Detection Bureau.
It was in his crime lab that he was struck by lightning and bathed in chemicals, which jump started his metagene, thereby giving him his super abilities.

The Central City Police Department Scientific Detection Bureau was created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino and first appeared in Showcase # 4 (October 1956).[2]
