Carol Ferris was the manager and owner of the Ferris Aircraft Company in Coast City. She inherited the position from her father, Carl Ferris. She and Hal Jordan were in an on again off again type of romantic relationship. Things were very complicated since Hal was actually Green Lantern, and it was unknown if their relationship would ever progress to a higher level.
Further complicating matters, she also had a duel identity of her own as Star Sapphire, which was a role she had been given by the Zamarons.
This had often caused her to clash with the Green Lantern Corps, who were considered rivals of the Zamarons.
Hal Jordan and Kyro at the Ferris Aircraft Company, which is owned by Carol Ferris.[1]
