The Caribbean was a region of the Atlantic that consisted of the Caribbean Sea and all of the islands within it, including the West Indies islands of Greater Antilles such as Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico and others.

The Lucayan Archipelago was also part of this region, which included the Bahamas.
