Big Barda was originally a member of Granny Goodness's Female Furies.
She fell in love with Scott Free, the son of the Highfather of New Genesis who was exchanged with Orion in infancy as part of a peace agree with Darkseid, Ruler of Apokolips. Inspired by Scott's indomitable good spirit unbowed by the brutal evil of his imposed home, she eventually escaped with him and travelled to Earth, Once there, she married him while he became the super escape artist, Mister Miracle with her gladly providing the muscle in their act while dealing with the forces of evil.
She eventually became a member of the Justice League.

Big Barda was present when the New Gods of New Genesis came to Earth in Gotham City, where they presented the superheroes of that world with an Award Ceremony.
Big Barda's gift to Batgirl was Oracle, which was a computer program that functioned as a holographic projection of a head that was programmed with all of the knowledge and best qualities of Batgirl.[2]
