A basket, such as a picnic basket; was a type of container made of wood, plastic or other materials, often used for packaging food for picnics, much like a lunchpail.
In the game of basketball, two baskets were used for both teams on the basketball court, although these baskets had no bottom, allowing the ball to fall through the basket when a player tossed the ball into the basket.[2]
