An Atomic Freeze Ray was any type of freeze ray that utilized atomic particles in one way or another.

When the Polar People declared war against the Surface Dwellers by starting another Ice Age, Torrana utilized their Atomic Freeze Ray to freeze the Moon, believing that he had frozen the Superfriends along with it, who he believed were on the Moon. Superman then used his super strength to break off an icy chunk of the Moon that was parabolic in shape, and he used it like a mirror, to reflect the Sun's rays at Earth, thawing out all of the frozen cities below, and thus putting an end to the Ice Age.[2]
