Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) was the 16th President of the United States. He was in office from March 4, 1861 to April 15, 1865, up until his death.

His presidency was preceded by James Buchanan, and he was succeeded by Andrew Johnson. He was shot and killed in Washington on April 15, 1865. There were many locations that were named after him, such as the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Plus, his likeness was carved into the side of Mount Rushmore, along with other former presidents. His face was also on the United States five dollar bill.

Lincoln was well known for his 1863 speech known as the Gettysburg Address.

Lincoln was born in Kentucky in 1809. He served as the United States president during the American Civil War. It was during this time, that he gave a famous speech in Gettysburg.

This address was so famous, that it would be remembered generations later, and it was even taught in schools as an important event in American history.

When Marvin White was watching G.E.E.C. TV, the speech could be heard when the G.E.E.C. computer was malfunctioning.[1]
