A.P.E. was a team of supervillains that banded together on a couple of occasions to kill Superman back in the '70s. They might be seen as a precursor the later, more ambitious Legion of Doom.

Secret Hideout[]
On the Metropolis waterfront, is an abandoned lighthouse. This serves as secret hideout for villainous group known as A.P.E.
It was later re-located beneath a new Research Laboratory, on a mountain outside of Metropolis.
