The JLA was founded in the late 1960s.[1]

The 1960s was a time during the 20th century in which major cultural changes took place on Earth. Civil rights, free love and issues such as these were beginning to change the world forever.

It was also during this decade that the Kennedy assassination took place, and Swinging London became a big thing in the United Kingdom, and eventually spread to the United States and other parts of the world, with the introduction of The Beatles.

The Cold War continues during this decade however, with conflicts such as the Vietnam War, which is protested by a subculture known as hippies, who rejected the violence of such conflicts with a slogan they often used which was "make love, not war."

The art of the era was also renowned for generations. In music, disco and heavy metal also took off this decade, while in the world of television, fictional characters such as Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble make their debut.

The use of recreational drugs was also becoming far more frequent during this period, especially among the hippies, who used drugs such as marijuana and acid.
